Cock-A-Doodle-Shhhhh!

City Council Member Duke Bainum has proposed legislation that would silence, remove, ban or otherwise quiet Roosters from areas in his district. I have called John Henry Felix to suggest adding Kailua to the list of areas where roosters would be banned.

Why?- Case in point- 3:18 a.m. - someone's rooster, running wild in the streets (silly huh?), decided to roost in a tree just outside my bedroom and start crowing at 3:18 a.m.

I went outside and tried to find the damn thing and went back to bed, unsuccessful in my search at 3:33. Then, 4:02 a.m. it decided to "greet the dawn" and the same result.

4:22 a.m....AGAIN...I went out and sprayed the garden hose in the general direction.

4:43 a.m.....Again!!!! Argghh- Flashlight in hand I searched for the damn thing....same results.

5:01, 5:27, 6:18 and finally 6:55....my neighbor and I found it hidden in a densely packed evergreen. We chased it around like a couple of ninnies and it ran down the street into someone else's yard and behind their house.

Enough already...This isn't the first time this has happened but, I sure would like it to be the last. Yeah, I know, people wanna save a few bucks and raise their own chickens and have fresh eggs...Well, we're too closely packed in around here for such luxuries folks. Most of us have to work two jobs just to pay our mortgages and sleep is an essential. Buy eggs at the store.

And another thing, could someone please tell those two elderly women who are hard of hearing to take their morning walk (5 a.m.) and loud gossip down another street or I may be forced to unleash my garden hose again!
